My first “planned” bracelet, my halloween bracelet! I LOVE halloween, and do a very elaborate party every year. I chose the devil lock because it is perfect with this combo. Brew of the moor reminds me of a spooky fog-covered swamp, orange steel and pumpkins are great halloween colors. The midgard serpent and cobras stand in as slithery creatures, and tupilaks remind me of ancient spirit carvings. The skull and frogs in bead of fortune are perfect for halloween, and retired four frogs are perfect ingredients for a witch’s brew….black bubbles is essential, and the eye bead is a creepy centerpeice. Green shade is the perfect slimy green color!

 

New and old. This bracelet contains 2 retired troll glass kits: the OLD brown kit (brown bud, gray armadillo, beige flower, clear brown braid, fur animal, brown dot) The OLD beige kit (fur flower, fur dot, glass stone, chai bud, gray armadillo, beige bubbles) and the RECENTLY retired brown kit (brown stripe, beige flower, gray armadillo, beige bubbles, fur animal, brown dot.)

These classic neutrals work so well together, and some of the beads are highly coveted retireds. I had fun tracking them all down! I combined the with classic silver troll beads, and it is also a perfect match with my new mexico lock!

Chinese Porcelain. I started with the quilt ooak 2nd from the left. I loved the colors so much that I decided to build an entire bracelet around it. This bracelet is the perfect mix of old and new, production and ooak. I was gifted one of the ooaks from another troll collector, and swapped for 3 more of the beads. One of the blue quilt beads is from the Christmas kit, and matches the first bead I got to start this combo! I used flower trollbeads, as well as silver whorl. The limited edition clover and tulip are featured. I also included the van gogh sunflower bead from the World Tour Netherlands kit.

If we consider the meanings of just 2 of the beads on Donna’s Bracelet, we can appreciate how wonderful it must have been for her to receive these beads as gift from her husband.

Wednesday was a beautiful day on Cape Cod and we had a whole bunch of floor traffic in the shop….Hooray for February school vacations! I had a chance to connect with lots of people.   Almost every visitor to our shop proudly showed me their bracelet or necklace and described what each bead means to them personally.  The emotions associated with these stories ran the gamut from joyful to commemorative to heartbreaking to loving to triumphant!  In fact, during one conversation, we decided that  the personal story behind each bead  made the bracelet an heirloom  that could be passed along for future generations to enjoy and cherish.

All the stories were wonderful to listen to, and made me realize that Trollbeads has truly hit a home run with their tag line,  “Every Story Has A Bead”.   For the next few weeks, we’ll be having guest bloggers tell about their bracelets and the stories behind their beads.  If you’d like to tell your Trollbeads story, reply to this post, and I’ll schedule you in.

Scenes From Cape Cod

Many, many thanks to all who took advantage of the Valentine’s Day Trunk show specials.  We had a wonderful time assisting our customers as they picked out the perfect present for themselves or for the special people in their lives.   In addition to our shop visitors, we spoke to a ton of you on the phone, and a record-breaking number of you used our web site to order.

Quite a few of our phone and web customers spoke longingly of wishing that they lived closer so they could visit the shop in person.  That got me really thinking about beautiful Cape Cod!  In case you don’t know, Trollbeads at The Commons is located in the heart of Cape Cod.  It’s an extremely popular summer resort destination, but tends to be  a hidden jewel in the off season.  So, in no particular order, here’s a list of reasons to plan a late winter/early spring trip to Cape Cod.

• Off season rates make accommodations more affordable.
• Swimming may not be possible, but the seashore is uncrowded and still has wonderful sunsets.
• The many scenic trails are quiet…just perfect for an invigorating hike or an unhurried amble, whichever you prefer.
• Art galleries and museums are plentiful on Cape Cod and the off season lends itself to serene, peaceful exploration.
• Many restaurants and wine bars remain open in the off season, and you may not even need a reservation.

Still not convinced?  Well, those of us lucky enough to call Cape Cod home, love the off season.  But, what we would love most of all is a chance to meet and connect with our long distance friends in person.  Think about it, and let us know when you’re coming!

Our move is complete! We’ve dragged all of our considerable “stuff” four storefronts down the street. We’re now located directly across from Starbucks.
